Equible Gas officals work with the wall laying on the ground.A suspected natural gas explosion destroyed a vacant house in Shaler yesterday morning.
Firefighters were called at about 11:15 a.m. for a reported fire at 28 James St. They found smoke coming from the small, one-story house and smelled natural gas, said Chief Jim Skalos of the
Cherry City Volunteer Fire Department.
A small fire on the back porch was quickly extinguished. One side of the house was completely blown out and the other side leaned at an angle, barely supporting the roof.
Chief Skalos said the house had been vacant for one or two months. No one was injured.
